We start out today in Eagle Harbor, with an archive photo snapped by Paul Talvensaari back in 2005. He captured a unique view, with the Eagle Harbor Marina and old Coast Guard Station, along with the Lighthouse, too. The angle of this shot, makes it look like there is no harbor entrance in between them.
For our next archive shot, we hop aboard for a flight with E. Neil Harri from 2007. We’re heading west to check out the snow cover at the Porcupine Mountains in Ontonagon County. That’s Lake of the Clouds with the mountains surrounding it. Looks pretty cold with all that ice and snow.
Our current, 2019 photo was taken by Judy Byykkonen this past weekend. She was up at Fort Wilkins with a friend skiing the trails around the Fort grounds. What a great way to see this State Park without the crowds of summer. Gives you a perspective of how it was in the winter for the soldiers that lived here in the 1800’s, too.
Today’s video is a short flight over Copper Harbor, showing the ice cover in the Harbor and out on Lake Superior in 2015. I’m guessing it’s much the same today, if not even more ice on the Big Lake right now.

Now he will.
He has to."
