So we start out the archive look today, with a photo taken by Courtney Holzberger back in 2013. She was out doing some necessary winter chores, like shoveling off the roof of this deer blind, so it didn’t collapse from the weight of the snow. Courtney actually had help with the job, as her dogs joined her, but they didn’t make this photo. They even went up on the roof once its was shoveled off, so maybe they really weren’t much help, just good company.
The next shot shows a cold and blustery looking scene in Bootjack, from 2015. Linda Schneller snapped this one looking out her window, with the wind blowing the snow into drifts between her home and the lake. We had blizzard warnings and the temperature sign in Chassell was registering a -27° that day. Brrrr…
We had some of the same cold and snowy weather last week, with the Marquette area getting hit with freezing rain, too. Sharon Bodenus shares a shot she took after the storm had subsided, in the Little Lake area. Those trees are covered with ice and then snow, too. The reward for all the inconvenience of downed power lines causing power outages, is beauty like this to behold.
Shawn Malone of Lake Superior Photo in Marquette, made a video after the storm. You can even hear the tinkling of the icy branches if you listen close.

Was that a wolf, or am I having a flashback? "But Grandmother! What big ears you have."

Just think how scarce food is this time of year for the birds and then they have to break thru the ice to eat what is left after a storm like that.
