We’re doing a bit of horsing around on the Pasty Cam today. Starting out with a vintage snowmobile, pulling an equally vintage cutter. I’m sure this snowmachine that Mickey Hodges photographed back in 2013, didn’t have nearly the “horsepower” that the newer models have now. In my opinion, that’s a good thing, especially when pulling a cutter with a precious little granddaughter behind.
Our next photo was shared back in 2015 when Charlie Hopper said the photo was labeled “1890’s – Canadian Style” in his Shoebox Memory folder. It captured a glimpse of the cold, with all the occupants of the wagon bundled up, back when horsepower had a different meaning.
Aladino Mandoli was on the Michigan Tech Campus this past weekend during the Winter Carnival and he snapped the third photo of a Horse Drawn Wagon ride that folks could take to tour the Snow Statues on Campus. The folks and dogs look to be pretty bundled up for that ride, too.
Quite a neat video today, from Escanaba, Michigan, showing their Fire Department with Horse Drawn Wagons on Ludington St. in the 1920’s.

Excellent video & music included! How on earth could firefighters stay alive back then with those flimsy coats & hats on? WOW! And smoke inhalation... :/

That "Different World" is where the money and speed are...that is the world of no place, of placelessness, of always going somewhere and never anywhere... Think we will just go on a normal every week Sunday drive.
