There is so much wildlife all across the U.P. and it’s fascinating to watch them interact with each other or with us. Today’s first shot was snapped by Robert C. Wetton (RIP) back in 2011. He spotted this cute little bunny just sitting there behind his snowblower tractor tire. Good thing he saw him there before he hopped on and backed up. Robert I mean, not the bunny.

The next critter photo was taken by Melody Provost Holmes in 2015. She was doing a little bird watching, hoping to get some photos and figured the red and gray squirrels would make good subjects, too. Fun that she captured two of them on the tree at the same time. One going up and one coming down.

The third photo is quite the capture indeed. Donna MacIntosh was entertained watching the deer at her backyard birdfeeding station, when all of a sudden these two got very territorial about the sunflower seeds they were having for lunch. She snapped this one just as they were getting ready to rumble! By the looks of those raised hooves, I’d say she means business. WOW!

Today’s video was made at a Western Upper Peninsula feed lot and shows several feisty deer in this group, too. It looks like deer haven’t learned the fine art of sharing.

Looks like the deer on the left shouted: "come out with your hooves up!!!!"

I have always read that it can be very dangerous and possibly even deadly to feed corn to wild deer. Corn is high in carbohydrates and sugar, much more so than their usually more woody and fibrous diet. They don't have the stomach enzymes to properly digest it. Very small quantities are OK so I hopefully these guys know what they are doing.

DA...you are right about the corn..however IF you
start to feed them corn early enough in the
season...it works.

I only have sunflower seed and leftovers. They love
it!
