Often times, winter is just one gray, drab day after another, with little sunshine and plenty of cold temperatures. But sprinkled in there, we get some beauty to behold, too. Like the 2002 photo that Robert C. Wetton (RIP) shared of the sky over Dollar Bay, just before sunrise. There’s just something about a sliver of the moon in the sky, that I just love.

Another sunrise, this one from 2003, with Donn de Yampert being the photographer. I’m not certain, but I think he was on the top of Mont Ripley when he snapped this gorgeous sunrise over Houghton and beyond. It looks like there’s even a sundog in the middle of all that early morning glow.

Bob Gilreath recently captured the sun trying to shine through what he called the fine lake snow/ice fog. It was on one of those very frigid days we had last week. You can almost see the cold in this shot.
