In this daily journey across the U.P. over the past 20 years, we've seen over 7,000 subjects on the Pasty Cam. One of my favorite areas is between Phoenix and Ahmeek, known as The Cliffs. It's the home of the first commercially successful copper mine here in the Keweenaw, the Cliff Mine. The snowy picture above from 1999 was captured by my son Jonathan as he commuted between Michigan Tech and our home in Eagle River. I also drove past this spot every day, too, as administrator of Still Waters in Calumet. So it's no wonder, this is one of my all-time favorite Pasty Cam shots.

Today's video from TakeMyTrip happens to begin at the mouth of Eagle River, driving up to Phoenix, and then on to Calumet and Hancock by way of Cliff Drive. (Of course in warmer days). About a minute in to the tour it turns the exact corner where the top shot was taken.

Another Super Bowl is in the books, and the 20th year of the Pasty Cam concludes at the end of this month. Where do we go from here? There's still lots to explore in the Upper Peninsula. We welcome your suggestions for the daily direction of this glimpse of life in the U.P.

The Cliffs always seem to offer such great winter shots.

I've been wondering if Surfer Dan of Marquette was out and about at all this past week during the vortex?

I just finished watching Globe Trekker on PBS. There was a short "special" at the end of their Midwest Trek that highlighted the Mackinac Bridge. I learned that about 1200 people per year have a fear of driving their vehicle across. As a result the bridge offers a service where they will drive you and your vehicle for you.

Perhaps visit old cemeteries? Churches? Schools?
Old buildings that people own and still know the
history of, local shops selling local
products...Can't think anymore!

Check out historical markers in the area, there's
that pythgorian (or whatever) marker up that
way...what is it, does it still exist in the
area?
Where? What do they do?

How about local fundraising folks...how hard they
work to pull off whatever they are working on.

The humane society/animal alliances....

The Monks...different religions....all of them in
the area....
