Today’s photos bring us a spot of brightness in the winter. The first photo was taken in 2006, by Katie Keranen from the top of the Swedetown sledding hill, where she captured the sun shining on the town of Calumet.

The next shot comes to us from “eye in the sky” photographer, E. Neil Harri as he was flying over Chassell Bay and Portage Lake in 2007. They were iced over and covered with ice fishing shanties, along with a maze of tracks made by the fisherman getting out to them. It looks like the sun may have been peeking out, brightening the ice below.

Our current photo for today was snapped by Sharon Bodenus in the early morning hours on her way to work. She said it was breathtaking in two ways...the beauty with the mist coming off the water and the air being so cold it literally took her breath away! She added that she was glad she stopped to take the photo...I am, too. Just look at that blaze of sunshine in the morning sky.
