We’re under quite the winter chill this week, with below zero temperatures and wind chill too. Brrrr….our archive shots for today look to be just as chilly, too. We start with a photo taken by Tom Cook in 2007, off of Sandpoint Road in the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Munising. Interesting pancake ice along the shoreline.
Jump ahead seven years to 2014 and we join Stacey Flood on the shores of Lake Superior. With the sunshine, at least it looks like it might be a bit warmer, but then you look out in the Big Lake and there’s ice as far as you can see and you know it is still quite cold, but beautiful none-the-less.
Stacey Flood supplies us with our current photo today, too. She was out snowshoeing with friends in the frigid cold this past weekend and snapped the third shot of the trees all standing guard in the woods with bits of snow hanging on to spots on the bark. There’s a kind of mystical feeling in this shot.
We join Fun in the UP for some winter fun in the U.P. for today’s video. Driving fun and then it continues in the snowy woods, too.

Let's hope the groundhog gives us something to hope for on Feb 2nd! Winter's nice but spring's always so welcome.

We are looking at all-time cold temperatures and life threatening wind chills in the next couple days. They are saying a little Spring next week. That WOULD be welcome.

Those trees in Stacey's photo look to be in pretty straight lines. Wonder if they were planted by the CCC.
