We start our Saturday with a photo from Rob Wetton. The Portage Lake Lift Bridge is often called the Gateway to the Keweenaw. Back in 2002 when this photo first appeared on the Pasty Cam, Rob pointed out that there was very little snow for January 12th and how the canal was looking like an ice rink, too. He added that he wouldn’t suggest anyone go out there skating though.
I’ve never downhill skied, but this shot from Aladino Mandoli makes me almost want to give it a try. Note I said, “almost”. I think my knees would prefer I just live vicariously through photos and videos. What a great capture with the hill all lit up and a lone skier coming down.
Sharon Bodenus was out in the dark this past weekend. Not at night, though, she was up bright and early, before the sun, to capture this shot of the Marquette Lighthouse as the sun was beginning to rise. She said it was like a skating rink at the bottom, but there were no casualties among her and her fellow photographer friends.
Since I said I’m going to live vicariously through other’s skiing adventures, we have a video from Jeff Keenan just a few weeks ago, going down the Big Hill at Marquette Mountain with a Go Pro recording his descent. Enjoy!

Great shot of the lighthouse!
Sounds like Sharon had the same conditions the 3 guys
(who had to be rescued) found on the trail between
the Upper and Lower falls at Tahquamenon Falls did!
Good thing they had cell service!
