More out of the ordinary ice formations from the archive for today. Shawn Malone of Lake Superior Photography in Marquette found some interesting sandy ice along the shores of Lake Superior in 2006. Nature had created a mini village of sandcastles.
Jeff LaMuth and fellow ice climbing friends made the trek to the Redridge area near Freda, to check out the icy walls that had formed in 2017. Massive sheets of thick ice cling to the sandstone walls there, perfect for Jeff and company to do some ice climbing that day.
Great Lakes Radio video published an adventure back in 2014, of a group of cross country skiers that made their way across the ice to Grand Island in the Munising area to check out the ice formations around the Island.

I think that first picture is one of the neatest pictures I have seen here.

Hey, FJL (Langoman), there's one of 'your' woodpeckers in the 2005 review picture!

Duane P. (Islandman43), isn't it interesting that Shawn even thought to get that low angle to see the 'village' in the first place?

Yes jbuck. Wonder if some 'others' noticed also.

jbuck......She certainly does have an eye for detail. She has a bunch of wonderful photos and time lapse videos on her website. You can get there by clicking on Lake Superior Photography above. Well worth seeing if you haven't already seen it.

Thanks Duane P. (Islandman43)! Some of the pictures/videos on the site did look familiar ~ seems like Mary has featured some of them before.
