Today’s archive shots start off with one from a master photographer that helped Pasty.com get going in the beginning. Dan Urbanski (RIP) had a talent for taking photos that made him a U.P. Legend when it came to photography. His capture of this moonset in 2001, with the ice in Lake Superior is a great example of the eye he had for capturing the beauty around him here UP North.
Jumping ahead to 2015, Lindsay Fortin was on the stretch of M141 between Covington and Crystal Falls when the sun began to rise and came UP beautifully with a Sundog. She stopped to snap a photo before continuing on to her destination, pleased with such a beautiful reward for having gotten up so early for her travels.
Our third photo was taken by Melanie Hakala Rossi this past weekend when she went on a nighttime snowshoe trek with friends. Along the way, they stopped and built a bonfire to light the night and warm up by, too. I love how she captured the sparks in the air.
We’re going snowshoeing with Samson and his owner in today’s video. So much snow in the woods for this Winter Wonderland adventure of Life in the UP.
