The U.P. has many beautiful vistas in any one of the four seasons, but taking the time to really “see” our surroundings here UP North, brings us some close up beauty, too. Looking back to 2014, Mike Schneider of Superior Seasons Photography gave us a look at a curled up leaf frozen in an icy opening. Makes one wonder how it didn’t get blown or swept away in the wind.
Then in 2015, Kathy Archambeau noticed the snowflakes beginning to fall and decided to check them out on her deck railing. So many different sizes and shapes all those flakes make. It is truly amazing the detail in each one.
Dave Dalquist sent me today’s current photo and said that he was home for a visit and took a drive around the Keweenaw with his Mom. In his travels, he stopped and snapped this photo of a new species of winter tree, called a tree-sicle. It actually looks like someone draped a blanket with icy fringe over those branches.
We’re joining Erika Chapman for a tour of some interesting frozen features around the Upper Peninsula. Plenty of icicle art ahead...

Sorry for the page glitch the last couple of days.
Thanks Charlie! When first logging in earlier today I received a notice that the site wasn't secure. Thankfully that's not the case now! Have a great new year.

Sorry to hear about Dominic, Ken. As UC said, to lose someone on Christmas is doubly tough. We're sending prayers for Josephine.

Thank you, Jbuck. And you're right, to lose someone on Christmas Day is doubly tough. They're just such a nice family.
