The archives bring us snowy and icy days from past years, today. Beginning back in 2009, with a photo from Joyce Tormala. It’s quite the peaceful scene with the pink reflection of the sun going down, against the white, snowy, covering all over the trees.
Jumping ahead to 2014, Brenda Leigh shared an icy scene from the Brimley area. It looks like the stairway from up above, going down to the Lake Superior’s shoreline would have been quite slippery that day with the thick coating of ice that froze on it. I wonder if it was even usable like that.
Joy Ziemnick had a different kind of icy view back in 2016, taken at Great Sand Bay. Looks like there was a decent amount of shoreline ice accumulated there by this time two years ago.
With all this talk of ice, I figured you’d all enjoy seeing the video that Susan Schwenk posted last week of the USCG Cutter Katmai Bay (WTGB-101), breaking up the ice along side the dock in Houghton, while the Ranger III waits to pull in and tie up for the winter. The Ranger was coming from Superior, WI, where it had some minor repairs and an inspection before being laid up for the winter in Houghton.

Thought for the approaching new year: Doing your best is more important than being the best.

Nnnn...Ice pix! While watching the video, Eddie Murphy's "Hot Tub" on SNL comes to mind.
