Here in the Copper Country, we are just about guaranteed a white Christmas, which the archive shots for today verify. Starting in 2000, with a shot from Charlie Hopper of the digging out process at Still Waters after we had a good dumping of snow. He said it was a challenge to maintain daylight, by keeping the snow away from the picture windows there.

It looks like 2003 was a bit less snow, but the ground was still covered in white. Lyn Rayrat snapped this one of a river running through the U.P. woods. It would be nice to hear the water going by and enjoy the stillness of the woods.

More snow again in 2013, when Nathan Miller made a trek out to the Keweenaw Land Trust newest nature area at that time, the Steve Farm Nature Area at Lovell Creek. It’s located just south of Dollar Bay on Point Mills. Nathan had set out early that morning to explore this new area and set up the lights in the frigid cold. Very festive for the Christmas season.

Beth Jukuri was doing some exploring herself around the McLain State Park and look what she found...bare ground there in December and no shoreline ice yet. That’s due to the temperature being in the 40’s this past Sunday. Beth said it was gorgeous there, but the wind was something else.

Further up the shoreline, E. Neil Harri was out and about on Sunday, also, and he made today’s video that you can plainly hear how strong the wind is blowing. Check out the waves rolling in as “whitecaps” on the shoreline, too... pushed by those strong winds.

Sounds like the windchill was miserable when both
Beth and Neil were out, but thanks for capturing the
current views of the CC for us!

Windchill?

I think that's why the video was so short.
