Winter beauty, winter fun, they go hand in hand around the Keweenaw. Bill Haller (RIP) snapped the first shot in 2004, assuring all the skeptics who had been worried about not having a 'White Christmas' that year. He sure captured a scenic shot, reminding us of the beauty that follows the snowing and blowing which fills our driveways.
In 2007, Brenda Leigh was out in the winter weather she loves, building a snowman on the trails she and her hubby made to ski on when they lived in the Menoninee area. It was muzzle loading deer season, so to be on the safe side, Brenda decked her snowman out in blaze orange. Pretty nice to have ski trails in your own backyard.
Finding more winter fun, Lindsay Fortin had her family out and about in Calumet for their Christmas in Calumet festivities in 2010. Her son was anxiously awaiting a ride on the horse drawn wagon ride through the downtown streets.
Winter isn’t winter without some sledding fun, so Mary Schmitt took her grandkids to do some nighttime sledding at Swedetown recently. She captured them on the not quite as much fun part of trekking back up the hill to head down again. Which is what the kiddos are doing in the video she shared with us today, too. Hop on with them and take a trip down Swedetown Hill.

Like that first pic, if that was on the way to his home (RIP BH), I have a pretty good idea where that was taken.
