Horsing around, catting around and getting a bit mulish to end our Upper Michigan work week. The first archive photo was snapped by Donn de Yampert in 2004, near Perkins, just north of Escanaba. Looks like these horses have it figured out that the hay is good for dinner, but also as a bedding to keep the cold from creeping into their bones too quickly, too.
Photo number two comes from Nate Alwine in 2010, when he and his kitty were out in the U.P. Northwoods. With the chainsaw in the photo, I’m guessing the pair were hiking the woods, looking for a Christmas tree.
Rounding out our archive trio, Melanie Hakala Rossi joins in from Lake Linden, back in 2013. These three mules were looking quite interested in what she was doing. Maybe they’re hoping she has some grain for them, to compliment that spread of hay before them.
If you’re looking for a fun winter/holiday activity for the family this weekend, check out The Sleighman in Ishpeming for a variety of fun, including bonfires and sleighrides, as seen earlier this year on TV6.

That horse in the first pick looks a little standoffish and I saw that movie in 2010...Chainsaw Kitty. The three dudes in 2013 look like they mean business.
Nice video too. It's not the Iditarod, but the kids are lovin it.
