We’re doing a bit of critter watching on today’s Pasty Cam, starting out with a neat shot from back in 2008, taken by Steve Brimm. He managed to capture two deer in the midst of a tender exchange. It’s not enough to be in the right place, at the right time, to get a shot like this, you also need to have the skills to capture it with the right settings and speeds. Steve knows his stuff when it comes to photography!

The next photo was taken by Barbara Bouwkamp back in 2011, somewhere in the Ontonagon area. The snow is coming down, covering the ground and the big round hay bales. I’m guessing the deer on today’s Pasty Cam would love to find a field filled with hay bales like to gnaw on for the winter months.

Jean Dessellier snapped off a photo of an interesting little critter in 2016. That’s a weasel in her woodpile, who had just about completed the 3 to 5 week change of its brown summer coat, to the white winter coat. Good color for hiding in the winter months here in the Keweenaw.

Jean also took our current photo for today, right in her own backyard. She said this doe with a split ear has been visiting at their property for four years now. Jean’s hubby figures she must have been in a fight when she was a young doe and damaged her ear, or perhaps she got it caught on a fence at one time. It almost looks like she has three ears, the better to hear you with, I guess.

Nice pix and video! I wish I had a third ear like that doe so I could hear in three-way...a woofer, a mid-range, and a tweeter.
