The archive look-back starts with a photo from Dan Urbanski (RIP), snapped in 2002. Dan had this to say, too: “I was taking some after-construction photos of the Ontonagon breakwater this week. People passing through Ontonagon often mistake the light at the end of the pier to be our lighthouse, but it is actually far inland, surrounded on three sides by the Stone Container paper mill.”
Ashlee Harvey and family were out on an adventure back in 2009, checking out the view from up on top the Mont Ripley Ski Hill. Looking out towards the Portage Lake Lift Bridge, you can see it was a year that we didn’t have snow on the ground yet and surprisingly there were still some leaves hanging on.
Our third photo was taken by Nick Rowe in 2015, when he and his Dad, Mark were doing a bit of winterizing of the windows for the Life Saving Museum located on the Eagle Harbor Marina grounds. Nick did some drone photography to share with us, too. Interesting view.
UP Graphics published today’s video back in 2013, showing the downtown area of Ontonagon. I wonder if the area has changed much in the five years since it was made?
