We start out our archive review in Lake Linden today, back in 2002. That’s a Great Blue Heron enjoying the sunrise at the Lake Linden Park with snow on the ground, but open water there still. The next photo was snapped just a short jaunt away from the park, actually right behind the school bus garage and elementary school. It must have been a bit warmer in 2007 when this picture was taken, as there is just a thin layer of ice forming on Torch Lake, around the edges and off towards the middle. No open water there this year.
The third photo is an Aurora snapped by Shawn Malone of Lake Superior Photo in Marquette. Even though the temperatures were cold, the Northern Lights were heating up the skies and thanks to Shawn braving the cold, we were able to enjoy the show, too.
Since we started with a Great Blue Heron, it’s only fitting we finish the daily Pasty Cam page with one, too. Thanks to Jennifer Aquadro and Common Birds and Their Songs by Lang Elliott and Marie Read, we get to hear the interesting call of the Great Blue Heron.

We have a Great Blue Heron who hollars. It sounds
just like that big bird from the movie "UP"!
