We’re all over the U.P. today on the Pasty Cam, starting out in a small village near Crystal Falls, called Alpha. Lois Haglund was there in 2005 and took this photo of the historic Town Hall and water tower that are located in the center of village, on a hill overlooking Alpha Creek.
Our next photo takes us to the shores of Lake Michigan, on the Garden Peninsula, to a little town called Nahma. Brenda Leigh was there back in 2011 and snapped a picture of her hubby, Jim, with the old lumber company historic waste burner in the background.
Then in 2013, Melanie Hakala Rossi captured this photo of her sister and friend who decided to hike up Brockway Mountain for her 50th birthday. She had always wanted to hike up a mountain on her 50th and since Mt. Everest was out of the question, she decided a hike up Brockway Mountain was the next best thing. Melanie actually snuck up there ahead of the hikers to snap some surprise photos of their adventure.
Our 2018 photo is an outstanding one indeed! Ethan Anderson was up bright and early to catch this sunrise over the Portage Lake Lift Bridge recently. We’ve been enjoying some beautiful colors in the morning and evening skies the past few weeks and thankfully there are folks like Ethan who capture them for all of us to see.
We’re on top of Brockway Mountain for today’s video, with a Geology lesson about the terrain there from Steven Baumann, filmed in October of 2017. Interesting information!
