The weather sure does a job setting the mood for U.P. photos, as you’ll see in today’s archive shots. We start with a chilly, blue scene from the shores of Lake Superior, snapped by Sharon Smith back in 2002. You can’t see the cold in this photo, but the day Sharon took this photo, we were experiencing single digit wind chills, so I’m betting she was chilled enough to be turning as blue as Superior’s waters.
In 2008, Danielle Mahoney was coming into Munising under the low ceiling of fog just above the roadway and treetops. Makes for a dreary and dark looking scene there with rain and damp roadways along M28.
We jump ahead to 2014, with a shot from Jeremy Rowe of Keweenaw Night Sky Photography. There’s so much more than a beautiful night sky going on in this photo…the sky lightening up as the moonrise begins, the faint aurora off on the left, the splash of the wave as it captures the light, making it look like tiny diamonds sparkling in the air and scattering over the rocks. Night time beauty for sure.
Munising is such a pretty area, I didn’t want to leave everyone with just the dreary, rainy scene above, so we have a video published by the Munising Visitors Bureau that talks about and shows us the beauty of Grand Island there in the Munising area. You’ll want to put this one on your bucket list for next summer.
