Remember the old Pilot House tourist trap in Copper Harbor (this goes way back)? And remember the old Drive-In Theater on the south side of Chassell? (that goes way back, too.) This ties the two memories together by a possible common sponsor. The Pilot House had memorable Orange Crush signs, and intermission at the Drive-In could well have featured today's video. Come to think of it, a possible third Shoebox Memory might tie the Bunny Bread mascot to the star of the commercial.
I happened across the evidence of the Drive-In while flying around with Google Earth. It's just south of Chassell on the way out of town. If you look it up on Google Maps, and jump down to the street level, you'll see the remnants of the old sign that we've featured before. Aren't the Copper Country and the U.P. fascinating in so many ways?
That commercial is a hoot! "That's what I said...Bunny Bread." I remember that one from 55+ years ago on the radio driving into downtown Munising, heading to the Red Owl grocery store.

"The summer of 52". Sounds like a movie title but it was my time at the Hiawatha drive in. Doing a little bit of everything. Fogger, concession stand, projectionist, tickets, clean-up, replacing missing speakers. Just out of high school and living a carefree life in the UP. How sweet it was.......FJL

FJL (Langoman),
Fogger? As in mosquito control? Or special effects for the spooky movies?
Sounds like a fun job all the way around! I'm jealous! I've never had a fun job.

jbuck, it was mosquito control. Kind of a play on words when you say 'control' but we tried. :)
