The fall colors are more muted now, with much of the brighter colors having been blown off the trees. That holds true for the archive shots and currently here in the Keweenaw. Back in 2006, Betsy Ely found some recently fallen leaves hung up in this little river waterfall. She snapped this one on the Carp River in Marquette County. I like the way the leaves seem to be just suspended there in the water.
In 2008, Robert C. Wetton – (RCW) (RIP), took a drive to Somero’s Farm to check out the pumpkins and found this Teepee they had set up there, also. It looks to be quite tall, too. I wonder if that’s where the cashier that was selling the pumpkins, was located, so they’d be protected from the elements.
Then in 2014, Judy Byykkonen was out on her daily walk in the woods and took the third photo of a typical scene in the woods this time of year. Mostly yellow colored leaves still hanging on and you can see the blanket of leaves that have already fallen on the forest ground.
Joe Kirkish got out with his camera for a look at the leaves toward the end of last week and was able to find some beautiful colors still hanging on in the Houghton area. With the blue sky as the background, those colors really pop out!
We’re taking you all on a drive today, crossing the Mackinac Bridge to the U.P. for a look at the Fall colors. This video was made earlier in the month, so you can get an almost first-hand look UP North.
OOPS...there was a snafu uploading the photos, so RCW's photo from 2008 didn't appear above the notes, here it is...
