No common theme for today’s archive and current photo, except for Autumn, of course. We start back in 2001, with a shot from Jeff Buckett that can’t help but make you smile. How many times as kids did you rake up a good pile of leaves and then hide in it. These two youngsters are just barely peeking out!
Our next archive shot first appeared in 2003 and was taken from Rick Anderson’sSkypixs plane, high over the Bishop Baraga Statue on Keweenaw Bay. Such beautiful colors there surrounding the Bishop that year.
We jump ahead to 2014 and the dedication of the Husky Statue on Michigan Tech’s Campus. Bob Gilreath shared this photo of the statue before it was unveiled. There was quite a crowd gathered to watch the unveiling of the 1,600 pound bronze statue, that sits in Husky Plaza on Campus.
Our current photo for today, was snapped by Chad Johnson just a few days ago. I’m not sure where he was standing when he took this shot, but it looks like the same angle as the Bridge Cam, just higher up. It’s a great vista looking over at Houghton and the colors all through the town and beyond.
Today’s video is going to take us back to 2014, with a clip from the actual dedication of the Husky Statue that was yet to be unveiled in our third photo here today. This nine-foot-tall bronze Husky statue stands proudly on a Baraga County boulder, surrounded by benches, planters, and paver stones.

Great photos today! The Husky Statue unveiling video is something no one should miss. I fell in love with the statue the moment I saw it; what a great piece of work that embodies the spirit of all Huskies! It's an awesome, enduring gift from the Lorenzetti family!

Very nice statue for the Huskies!
Just a few weeks ago NMU dedicated our Wildcat statue, made possible by the family of Gilbert Ziegler. It's impressive too!
