We begin our archive review today, north of Crystal Falls in 2001. Our own Charlie Hopper snapped this shot of the Airborne Memorial at the Paint River, while driving his Mom to Green Bay to catch a flight back south to her home. It was a relatively new memorial at the time, put there to honor all Glider and Parachute Troopers and Veterans.
I’m not certain where in the U.P. Michele Blau found this barn she photographed in 2006, but it couldn’t be more perfect for an interesting Autumn shot. With the clouds hanging low in the blue sky, almost touching the tops of the trees and the dried grasses spreading out like a carpet in front of the weathered barn, it’s such a simple, yet impressive photo. Wouldn’t it make a great puzzle?
Our last archive shot first appeared in 2011, while E. Neil Harri was taking a color tour around the Lac La Belle area, with a view mostly reserved for the birds. The colors around Sand Point there were beautiful that year and how neat that Neil captured the irons framing the Channel coming into Bete Grise from the waters of Lake Superior.
We’re sticking around there in the Lac La Belle area, with a video of some low fog and colors on an early Autumn morning. Color your morning beautiful.

Good morning, Mary! Nice pix and the video was good...a little jerky, but nice content.
