Beauty is everywhere here UP North and those of us that live here every day, sometimes take that for granted. Today’s archive photos remind us all to stop and really see what is all around us each and every day. Bob Gilreath starts us out with a shot of his daughter Sarah back in 2006. Fall kayaking may be a little cooler, but the color reflections make it all worth the chill in the air.
Near the Laurium Manor Inn back in 2012, there was a brilliantly colored maple that was coloring the street, adding more beauty to behold. When you stop and really take notice, it can’t help but make you smile.
We’re back with Bob Gilreath for the third photo, which he captured in 2014, while out searching for fall colors on his side by side. Bob said this was taken on the Kallio Road, looking north east into the Traprock Valley and beyond, just south of Copper City. What a view from UP there, the vista seems to go on forever and the colors are splendid, indeed!
Wrapping up today’s fall tour, we take a short flight around the U.P. from a year ago. Copper Harbor, Tahquamenon Falls, Kitch-iti-kipi, and the Mackinaw Bridge are some of the highlights.

I just took delivery of my first ATV today. It's only 3 days until the Keweenaw ATV club's Fall tour ride from Calumet to Copper Harbor this Saturday and I fear I don't have enough time to appropriately prepare and travel the 8 hours.
I still want to make it UP, hopefully for peak color in a week or two.

Safe travels, D.A.. Nice pix and the video was incredible! Music by Hans Zimmer was great. He also collaborated with Benjamin Wallfisch on the Blade Runner 2049 soundtrack.

Nice review and I second what Alex said, incredible video and the music fits very well.
D.A. time to get er in da mud!! Just curious, what brand did you go with, and is it a "side by side" ? These days that's what I would want to ride, comfort over speed, lol.

Thanks Alex.
UC, It's a brand new (2018) Polaris 450. I wanted one that would easily fit into the bed of my F150. It's an 8 foot bed so I can close the tailgate and tow the new camping/travel trailer.
It is plenty fast. Will go from zero to PDQ (55 mph) very quickly. But I got it to go places that the truck doesn't want to go to and I'm too old to walk to. I won't be doing any "intentional" tricks or jumps, LOL.
If I could have transported a side by side that would have been my preference as well. A toy hauler trailer was suggested but I figure you usually end up parking the trailer a good distance from the ATV trailhead so then you're back to how to transport the ATV those last several miles.
I just found a campground in Gay with full hookup that stays open longer than Sunset or any of the State Parks.

I love the fall pics. Makes me wonder ,once again, which season is the loveliest?

D.A. Are your staying with Bobby Kauppi? Great little campground there. We were there this summer. Have a great time and tell Bobby, Chuck says hello!!
(We also have an F150, the boss drives it). Except when pulling the TT. Then she chickens out and I have to do all the driving, lol But with rig in tow, I prefer to be behind the wheel.

UC, Yes, it's Bobby. I haven't yet made a decision. The trailer roof is still under repair, time is running short and for some reason the mosquitoes are so bad down here that it's hard to find the energy to work outside. I've only read about mosquitoes this big being in Alaska.
