The archives for this day throughout the years, have had a variety of animals, starting out with a big black bear in 2002. Bonnie Rendel snapped this guy in the backyard of their Tamarack Waterworks home. He was one of four visiting that day and was up on two feet, checking out her garden. When she opened the door and yelled at the bear, he complied and left. He was a good listener.

Taana Kalliainen found some autumn colors while out on a Copper Country Trail ride with friends, back in 2014. This was actually a weekend ride, where they enjoyed touring on horseback, playing cribbage and sharing good food together. Their horseback travels brought them all around the area, including to the top of Mont Ripley for a peek at the colors from UP there.

The last of the animal photos for today, was taken in 2015, by Judy Byykkonen. She spotted this large number of Sandhill Cranes gathered just outside of Lake Linden, so she snapped a shot of them. They were most likely gathering together for the beginning flight of their migration from the Copper Country for the winter months.

I’ve always thought it would be fun to ride the trails during the fall months and check out the changing colors of the leaves. Today’s video does just that, although there doesn’t seem to be too much color there yet, we’re going to enjoy a horseback ride through the woods. Hang on tight!

Welcome home, Mary. Hope it was an enjoyable trip
to Italy. You're just in time for some colors and the white that comes next.

Hi all—I notice the pasty counter is no longer displayed. Did it
break when you crossed a million? And when did you cross
that magic number? Who got the millionth pasty?

Welcome home, Mary! Sir Charles was a pretty good replacement, but no one can top the Queen.

Mary: welcome home! Your photos were so amazing and beautiful! A vacation never to be forgotten and to do again some day! Added note, yes horseback riding in Autumn is wonderful, or anytime of the year! :)

Well my goodness, thanks for the nice welcome home! My trip to Italy was amazing in so many ways, but the highlight was meeting our cugini (cousins) that live in the Lucca area and visiting the village where my Grandfather grew up, along with standing right there in front of his childhood home. It felt like home there, too!
