We've been to some mighty interesting places this week, but this is one of my favorites. When you think about it, the Locks are a marvel of engineering, faced with the task of providing transport from the Lake Huron side at 577 feet above sea level, to the Superior side at 601 feet. Imagine the task faced by the earliest boatmen on the lakes? We hear from one of their present day protégés in this Saturday video. And thanks to Rod Burdick and Boatnerd for the shots included in today's review.

Sounds like they are finally going to build the larger lock at the Soo!

Great Pic's and interesting video! Now I have to follow the Stewart J Cort. I also follow the American Spirit and the Roger Blough, seems like they are always in the Soo when I'm calling on the hospital there.

All in a day's work! I heard a story that they may build a third lock. "Soo closer to getting 2nd big lock" (Detroit News)
