Why are we so surprised every September when the green starts fading, and the gold and red begin to appear? Perhaps because we've been so hypnotized by that sea of green around us. But it really hasn't been that long since it was all white and gray, before the subtle green traces began that hypnosis. The seasons all slip by, the cycle goes on, with or without us. RIP John Denver. And thanks to West Ely and Joe Kirkish for the memories from '03 and '11 respectively.
