We’re going to the Fair today on the Pasty Cam. Back in 2010, Lynn Virtanen was at the U.P. State Fair in Escanaba, checking out the rides and the good eats you can find at the food booths. My grandson was just saying how much he loves Elephant Ears this past weekend. Grandma will have to figure out how to make some with him.

Current Fair goers are the Dennis family. Jeff Dennis shares a couple photos AND a video from this past weekend at the Houghton County Fair. His daughter and son sure look like they’re enjoying the Tilt-A-Whirl. That used to be one of my favorite rides, along with the Scrambler (key word is “used” to be).
They also enjoyed checking out the animals, especially the goats. Those baby goats seem to be a favorite of Jeff’s daughter.

What a fun video we have today. Jeff’s daughter is sharing some cut up carrots with her new animal friends at the fair this weekend. Such a great way for kids to be exposed to farm animals of all kinds.

I've only been to the UP State Fair once I
think. I've been to the Minnesota State
Fair numerous times, though. But I've
never been to our county Fair at all. Fun
times, though.

2003 image keeps on taking my breath away.

Hey Deb,
I've been to state fairs all over the country but the most fun I ever had
was at the Marquette County fair. You should go to a county fair if
you can. They aren't big and crowded like the state ones. That's my
opinion anyway. :-)

I believe pic #3 is called the Twister, which made me lose my cookies and cream years ago. I can still hear my buddy's mom freaking out in the car that night on the way home from the fair.
And the Billys looked a little sheepish, to which I say: "Sheep up or sheep out!"

Mary says: Maybe where you grew up it was called the "Twister", Alex, but here it's the Tilt-A-Whirl. Take a look at the "car" to the right of Jeff's kids, it's says it right on the back of it. :-)

Dick, I can't go on many rides due to
motion sickness and then vomiting. Not
fun! But thanks for the tip. I'll have
to find out when theirs is.

And Dunerat, I agree completely on 2003.

Back in the day, we took a bunch of our clients
from Mental Health to the fair. When we got off a
couple of rides, THEY needed to help ME off!! Thank
God for the folks that took care of me...even tho
it was supposed to be the other way around!! LOL

I will never forget my nightmare experience many decades ago on the old wooden (click →) "Giant Dipper" roller coaster, er … more correctly, "Boneshaker" at Belmont Park in San Diego. I swear, that beast had square wheels, and they weren't synchronized!

I put my sunglasses in a shirt pocket, lest they fly off my head. Hah! a lot o' good that did, I lost them anyway. At least my wallet was secured in a button-down pocket! Pocket change didn't have a chance!

My back was never the same thereafter.

Jolly good thing I wasn't wearing dentures!

😱

The rides at Knott's Berry Farm were far more exciting and much less hazardous to your spine.
