Today’s archive photos don’t have any particular theme, they’re just photos that are fun. This one just made me chuckle back in 2005 and still does today. That’s Mary Baril’s nephews, with her hubby, Alfie driving the tractor. The young man on the back is actually sitting on a lawn chair attached to the back of the tractor. Typical Yooper fun!
The next photo is another one that made me laugh. I was actually on my way home from work one day in 2012, when I spotted this pooch in the upstairs window above Bucko’s Party Store. He was quite amusing, watching the cars drive by and really getting alert when someone would park in front of the store and walk in.
Over on Mackinac Island with our Grandsons in 2016, we ran into Ben Nye, Kite Flyer Extraordinaire, who has Great Turtle Toys, a fun game and toy shop on the Island. After talking with him for a short time, he asked the boys to help him launch a big kite. They enjoyed the adventure.
The last two photos were snapped by Paul Roberts who was recently over on Mackinac Island. He said he had been looking for this spot for a number of years and finally found it. Located adjacent to Fort Mackinac, Anne’s Tablet consists of stone benches and a bronze plaque, all built there on the overlook in 1916 as a memorial to local author Contance Fenimore Woolson. As a girl, she summered on Mackinac Island in a home that was located directly below the overlook, but is now gone. She wrote her first novel in 1880, set on Mackinac Island.
Our video feature today, takes us on a flight over several of the hidden gems on Mackinac Island. A gazebo and paths that were used in the making of the movie “Somewhere in Time”, then to the overlook in front of the Fort and back again, towards Anne’s Tablet. You just get a glimpse of it at the very end.

Do you think that in our extravagant pursuit of a future projected by science, we have left the present to shift for itself?

Pat & Glenda, the short answer? You betcha. We sure did.
