It’s a world of animals in today’s archive review, cats, chipmunks, herons and bears, oh my! We start off in 2004, with a photo from Bob Gallun. He spotted his cat and a chipmunk outside having what appears to be a stare-down. Mr. Chipmunk sure seems to be displaying some U.P. Sisu, sitting just outside the window, stuffing its little cheeks with seeds and just daring the cat to come and get him.

Jump ahead a year, to 2005 and we join Suzanne Lunn, in Escanaba where she captured this awesome profile photo of a Great Blue Heron. The Heron is sure standing there proudly, atop the remnants of a mooring, just like he’s striking a pose for the photographer.

Another year later, in 2006, Kevin Brendel was camping at Sunset Bay Campground, eight miles from Ahmeek, when this bear lumbered from the shoreline to the edge of the campground. He sniffed around some of the RVs and the dumpster, until one of the other campers drove their truck up close and beeped the horn. With that, the bear ran into the woods. I bet there were some happy campers seeing him run off like that.

Today’s video treat is a 2 for 1 deal, with a look at Munising Falls and a Great Blue Heron. I’m not positive, but this Heron seems to be a bit smaller and with the coloring, I’m going to go out on a limb and say it’s most likely an Immature Great Blue Heron. Either way, it’s pretty neat it was there at the falls, strutting around.
