More beauty from around the U.P. found in the archive review today. Back in 2002, Taka Aoki photographed the Aurora Borealis, along with a group of the staff and counselors at the Michigan Tech Summer Youth Program that year. They seem oblivious to the beautiful lights behind them, but I bet they oohed and awed after the photo was taken.
Moving ahead a few years to 2005, we head out on Lake Superior with Cindy Freeman to do some kayaking around Pictured Rocks in the Munising area. Actually Cindy wasn’t kayaking, she was on one of the boat tours when she snapped this shot of the kayakers paddling on their way there.
Our third archive shot was taken in the Gwinn area, by Sharon Bodenus in 2016. Those are some dandy clouds and most likely mean a storm was brewing, but even so, it has a beauty about it, too.
Today’s video clip was made just a few weeks ago by Frank Lasslett, when he was doing a bit of kayaking around the Pictured Rocks shoreline in Munising. Paddling in and out of the caves there, gives you a whole other perspective of the unique shoreline of Lake Superior in that area. Time to explore...

Ron and I were just talking about spending
a couple of nights in Copper Harbor so we
could catch the northern lights up close
and personal. We are going to do that.
And kayaking through Pictured Rocks looks
like so much fun. But I keep remembering
how some of it fell into the lake. That
wouldn't be cool. The video was enough
for me.
