The weather here UP North is often hard to predict, because it can change quickly. The folks in Rockland have figured out a unique way to predict what the atmospheric conditions will be. Dennis Kemper reported on their methods back in 2004. My favorite is the very bottom one: If Rock is Gone – Weather Station Closed for Today.
Robert C. Wetton (RIP) has shared innumerable photos throughout the years and always had a good eye for capturing something unusual. He took our second photo today, from his summer home out in Bootjack, back in 2012. With the fog floating in the background and the water so still it reflects like a mirror, it gives the impression that you can see the entire barrels that make the swim raft. But in reality, you can only see half the barrels, as the other half is under water...the reflection completes the look, giving the raft a deck on top and bottom and making it look like it’s hovering in the air.
We leave Bootjack and head up to Laurium for a concert in Daniell Park. Barbara Bouwkamp was there in 2016, to listen to the music of Dave Pomroy and the Variations. A bit of history on the park…it was donated to the Village of Laurium by Joshua Daniell in 1937 for use as a public park. At that time, a concrete band shell was constructed and it was occasionally used from the 1940's to the 1970's. In 1974, the Village Street Department renovated the park and has maintained it since, making it a great place for musicians to perform and the audience to sit and enjoy the annual summer concert series.
I couldn’t quite spot Daniell Park in today’s video taken high above Laurium, but maybe you can pick out its location as we fly over the little town.

Quite a variety in the review today, but the loons
and the lighthouse are my favorites.
