We’re flying over the Keweenaw and paddling around it on the Pasty Cam today. We start out with Rick Anderson of Skypixs, in 2004. We take a flight over the Portage Lake Canal, with a great view of the Lift Bridge, along with Houghton and Ripley, too.
Still flying high, this time we’re in the co-pilot seat of E. Neil Harri’s plane in 2006, flying over the tip of the Keweenaw and Gull Rock Lighthouse. Located on a rock outcropping in the open waters of Lake Superior, adjacent to Mantiou Island, this historic beacon was constructed in 1867 and automated in 1913, it remains as an active aid for boats to navigate their way around the island.
Getting back on the ground, we get out on the water, sort of, with Brad Beaudette in 2008. This photo was actually a reenactment of a photo from a year prior when the water level was so low in Bootjack, that this very dock was on dry land. Brad had the kids take the same places in the boat on top of the dock to show how much better the water levels were this year.
Over the weekend, Melanie Hakala Rossi was out on the water, too. She was kayaking around the Jacobsville Cliffs, checking out the Sandstone there. I bet at first glance, many of you thought this photo was from the Pictured Rocks area in Munising. Very similar to cliffs there, but just no organized tours, you’re on your own to explore around these Sandstone walls.
We jump in a canoe with Tiger Holm to explore more Lake Superior shoreline in today’s video. He gives us some beautiful views of the Jacobsville Sandstone under the water along the shores of Bete Grise. It never ceases to amaze me how clear the water of Lake Superior can be.

I love the picture of the lift bridge. So beautiful. And the waters in the video look extremely clear and cold, but beautiful. Have a great day.

Jbuck, Finn has been a family member almost two years this Fall. He'll be two the end of August. He's a mix of Jack Russell & Chihuahua, and a rescue that we just had to bring home!! He runs the house and is my wife's dog, and gets treated better than yours truly!! lol He runs like a bullet, watch's animals on TV, Dog Whisperer is his favorite show, (not kidding).
He won't be with us on the trip late July for the family reunion/memorial service for my aunt. His second favorite is my mother in law, he'll be there while we're in the Yoop, he gets spoiled there as well!! He and our family hit the jackpot when he came into our family!! He loves to ride in the truck too. I'd update my pic on my profile here, but apparently I don't know what I'm doing to do it correctly, lol.... right Mary!! After all Jbuck, I'm just a Salesman!!
Thanks for asking Jbuck, he really helped lessen the pain of having to put Rocco down after 15 years.

Very cool UC! Finn is lucky to have such a good home; so glad you got a rescue to add to the family. Hope he's paying attention to Cesar and being the perfect canine!
Uncle Chuck's profile photo has been updated with a current photo of Finn, to go along with the updated bio in UC's post above. ;-)

Hey UC, Mary has had to put my profile picture on there for us too. Not very computer literate.
