The day before our nation’s Independence day, the archives have quite a variety of photos. Starting back in 2001, Taka Aoki was a “budding” photographer and shared a dandy bouquet of flowers. What a great example of this time of year and how everything is growing and blooming.

We jump ahead 13 years, to 2014, with Marsha Galbraith who captured a beautiful shot of our National Bird. The symbolization in this photo with the Eagle perched up high, like it is watching over our Nation, is a perfect picture for this week. Nice capture!

Then in 2015, Taana Kalliainen was in Chassell for the Copper Country Volunteer Firefighter’s Tournament and snapped this shot of one of the competition races these brave men and women take part in against fellow firefighters in the area. A HUGE thank you goes out to our local fire departments for all of the hours they volunteered over the past several weeks, coordinating and helping in the flood damage clean-up across the Copper Country. Kudos to you all!

This brings us to our current photo of the day, snapped by Steve Brimm this past Saturday. He was somewhere on Brockway, with a great vantage point, as a dandy fog bank was rolling into Copper Harbor. That’s the beauty of the tip of the Keweenaw, you can get up high enough to capture weather events like this, as they’re happening.

We’ve been the recipients of some pretty dramatic weather here in the Copper Country over the past two weeks, with several heavy downpours and wind blowing everything around. Since the major flooding, it’s a worry every time, wondering weather the storm drains are going to carry all that water away. Today’s video was made during one of those heavy rains this past Friday. Take note of the clouds...the higher ones going one direction and the lower ones the other way. Thanks to Scott Niska for braving the elements.

Nice review and cool video, second pic is one of my favorite's. Don't mess with the Eagle!!

Very nice pix...2018 is impressive and reminded me of the movie, "Interstellar" with Matthew McConaughey.
The video was impressive also, watching the cloud pattern do a 180.

My favorite is the Copper Harbor fog but the others are good as well.
I love that video of the wild weather too.

Has anyone heard from Taka lately? Just wondering how he is doing
now, some 14 or 15 years after graduation.

Good morning! What great pictures.
Flowers are always so great to see and
there's nothing more majestic than an
eagle. But 2018 is the winner. And that
video was nothing short of outstanding!
Have a great day. Praying progress is
made day by day UP there.

Deb,
So sorry to hear Ron isn't recuperating as quickly as
normal. We know you are taking good care of him!

Wow ~ the 2018 wall of fog is a great shot.

That video was fantastic. I had a hard time getting it to play but it was well worth the effort. Wonderful.

I saw that the same weather pattern over Munising's shores hit some national news feeds last weekend.
