During Bridgefest weekend here in the Copper Country, we had an unexpected downpour that took out several roadways, and opened up more than 60 sinkholes by some reports. We had planned on some memories of Dad's for today's Pasty Cam, but thought coverage of this unusual event was important.
Happy Father's Day! Have a good week :o)

Yikes! I heard it was bad up there, but this is amazing.
Edit: I just realised that the house I lived in while going to Tech is two streets up from the first photo in Lake Linden. Obviously, after being through two hurricanes and several flash flooding events here, we know what it's like. Stay safe everyone, and let emergency crews do their work!!!

It's just horrible to see all the damage and know how long it'll take for people to get back to normal. Wondered if they would use the helicopters that were in town for Bridgefest to take people to the hospitals if they can't get there because of all the devastation. Hope and pray people listen to the warnings and don't take any chances.

Praying the little child is alright that they had to take to the hospital via boat after the basement collapsed. The Dad dug him out..... what a way to spend Father's Day.

Such terrible damage. I haven't heard of any deaths or serious injuries. I hope that's true and stays so. Agate street in Houghton really took a hit all the way down the hill as well as 2nd street in Lake Linden. The creek behind Walmart really did a number to Taco Bell and Sharon Ave.

When my sweetie took the camera this morning, he did not notice the taco bell sign down. We saw it on the news this evening. It is raining again.
With everything going on right now, I still want to say happy birthday to my mom, even thou she has been gone since 2006......I miss you and Terry and Larry....
I could not believe the picture from Lake Linden and other towns.

I've been following this since early this morning. We just left there on Wednesday and saw the devastation in Ironwood/Bessemer/Wakefield on Friday. Now this. This is just awful. People who live in Bootjack can't get out but, thankfully they have boatsl. My mom is pretty much penned in at her house. Lake Linden is very nearly cut off from everywhere. M-26 is so bad in many places. The hill to Calumet is closed on the Lake Linden side coming down. I pray there are no accidents. They're going to need lots of prayers and lots of help. I hope there will be a GoFundMe page set up. I saw one, but want to be sure it's legit before I donate to it. Who would have thought that rain could do so much damage? And it's raining again. Devastating!

Hoping everyone is safe and all fathers are home with their families on this Fathers Day. So surreal...what mankind takes years to build, nature destroys in a moment.

So sad to see all this damage! I thought too, how surprising to see how much destruction that rain can do! I will certainly be keeping the area in my prayers. Sure hope the cities can get funding to help with the repair.
