Today’s archive shots are a nice blend of the variety of things to see and do here UP North. We start with a relaxing scene from 2000, on the shores of Lake Superior. Even though the skies are cloudy over the sandy beach scene, it still looks like an inviting place to spend a day.
Then in 2009, Cari Raboin takes us on a hike to find one of several falls along the Presque Isle River that runs through the Porcupine Mountain State Park. The Manido Falls gets its name from a native Ojibwa word, meaning “spirit or ghost”. This falls is generally amber colored and has a persistent foam that forms beneath the waterfalls, which is the result of tannins and other water-soluble plant compounds that wash into the river.
Our last archive shot of the day, was snapped by Nathan Miller, with his Aerial Kite Photography. He said he attracted plenty of attention while there at the Quincy Mine, from folks visiting the historic mine site and also from workers there on the campus who could see his kite overhead but couldn’t see him at first. I thought it was fun back in 2015 when this photo first appeared, that Nathan noted that the workers had mentioned that they’d seen his kite photography on the Pasty Cam.
For the last day of this workweek, we have a relaxing video of the Manido Falls mentioned above. So if you’ve had a hectic week, just sit back and let the sound of the falls bring you back to a state of relaxation. Enjoy!

It seems doctors make you wait forever in their waiting rooms on purpose.......Time heals all wounds.

Love the pix and I'm thinking about watching that video and having a picnic right hear at my desk.
