The Pasty Cam is a bouquet of colorful flowers today, both from the archives and a current shot, too. We start in 2006, with two apple blossom photos. The first one is from Barb Nelson Wenberg, of an apple tree, bursting in white blossoms. The second one is from Ashley Byykkonen, showing off the brilliant pink of the crabapple tree blossoms. It’s a shame these blossoms don’t hang on longer, but the fruit that is produced because of the blossoming is worth it, for sure.

Another flower that doesn’t stay as long as I wish it did, is the subject of our third photo, snapped by Aladino Mandoli…the ever-fragrant Lilacs. Dino managed to capture a butterfly as it was getting ready to land and drink some of the sweet nectar from these beauties. Lilacs are my favorite flower and scent, too!

Bob Gilreath took the third picture of his Hubbell Flower Bed. I asked him what these colorful flowers are and he responded that I’ll have to ask our visitors, as he forgot what they are and only knows they are some bulbs he bought when the Girl Scouts were selling them. They sure are colorful and bright. Any ideas folks?

Keeping with the Lilac theme, we have a video from the Mackinac Island Lilac Festival Parade back in 2011. It’s quite a parade for a small town like this. A unique and interesting variety of entries, too.

Pix and video...eye-poppingly, delicious.

Flowers are eye candy at this time of year. I
think we're all so happy to some color after
nothing but white for months and months. I only
wished it lasted longer! Beautiful pictures! And
lilacs are just the best!

Speaking of "It’s a shame these blossoms don’t hang on longer", I was laid up with back troubles this past week and with the early super heat wave we had, I completely missed my Rhododendron blooming. Even though I didn't leave the house for just a couple of days, that was long enough. Normally they bloom for 2 to 3 weeks, but not this year.

And regarding the video...

1) Does anyone know the first line to Dynamite the Clown's joke?

2) And the Northern Michigan Beach Queens were a real hoot!

D.A.: speaking of rhododendrons, I made this trip several times on the Wing...highly recommend it if your in the area at the right time.

Alex,

What a small world. For 4 years I lived about 40 miles from there (Greeneville, TN) about 10 miles from the Appalachian Trail. There certainly is something about the climate around the whole area that makes the Rhododendron population bloom vociferously. I've never been to the Rhododendron Gardens though.

Now that I have my new travel trailer and retirement's about to bloom, a return to the area is on the bucket list...right after testing the trailer in the UP.
