It was hard work playing in the Mass City Band, over a century ago. But probably not as hard as keeping up with the potato loader at the farm near Chassell in 1954. And even more back-breaking and hazardous was being a quarry worker in the U.P. in the 1800's. These are 3 glimpses of life we've shared on this day, 2002, 2007, and 2012 respectively. Another video clip we found from Michael Loukinen rounds out today's review of men at work in the U.P.
Hard to believe Labor Day is little more than 3 months away. Hope your Memorial Day Weekend is going well. And we hope the summer passes by slow enough to have walks along Superior's Shore, explore the rich history of this region, and enjoy its beauty, sights, and sounds. Pure Upper Michigan.
Winter is FINALLY over, then today we set a new record high of 97 degrees for today's date here in Northern Illinois. Good to know the beginnings of Winter is only a few short months away.
Great video. Congratulations to the "few stubborn survivors."

Interesting video...reminds me of the documentary, "Alone in the Wilderness". https://www.wimp.com/alone-in-the-wilderness-for-30-years-man-films-himself-living-alone-in-alaska/

I lead a life estranged from myself. ...I am very wild at heart sometimes. Not confused. Just wild......wild...
Great Pic's and Fantastic Video!! For a few minutes, I felt like I was listening to my Grandfather, Uncles and my dad! I could listen to that weekly!! That was really cool, thanks Charlie!!
