Wings are everywhere on the Pasty Cam today. To start us off, we go back to 2010 with a pair of Butterfly wings. It was luckily perched atop a fragrant Lilac, drinking nectar for nourishment, a beautiful capture by Cathy Westcott
There are too many wings to count in the second photo, snapped by Bill Thompson back in 2013. This was a flock of White Pelicans that was migrating North, with a stop in Marquette. It looks like there are eight Pelicans there near the Marquette Lighthouse.
The next two photos were taken in the past week, by Linda Schneller in her Bootjack yard, where she had put out slices of oranges to attract Baltimore Orioles to stop in for lunch and some photos. It worked, as she had a visit from a male and a female, while Linda was snapping away with her camera.
Today’s video feature brings the beautiful call of the Oriole to life here on the Pasty Cam. Enjoy the bird watching and listening, too!

A very nice aerial set, indeed. 2013 looks like "Pelicans in Marquette...market", as in fish market.

Nice pic's!! In that second pic of Marquette, the sandy beach to the right of the lighthouse, I lived in an apartment there in my junior year at NMU, it was pretty nice to be able to have the beach and the big lake right there! Good memories!!

Hey UC, wasn't there something else close at hand along that stretch? LOL!

UC...if I could travel that far, we could go in halfsie on that apartment and then you could show me all your favorite watering holes, immediately upon arrival :)

I love the pictures and video of the Baltimore Oriole. I've never seen one but would really like to. I think they are a regal bird.

I love those pelicans. I've never seen any migrating through the U.P. before.

jbuck, the Pier (Bar) was down the street, we lived in the apartment above the taxicab company at that time. Now I'm not sure what's below there. Although the Bike shop there is owned by a guy who lived in Van Antwerp down the hall from me my freshmen yr., other than that not sure what you're referring to... the Coast Guard Station??
Alex, 5 bedrooms, oil heat, windows that leaked really bad. Took all 5 of us to pay for that place. When I was there, there was something like 56 bars in Marquette County if I recall correctly? It was a hoot back then, wouldn't/couldn't do it now! lol

UC,
Yes, i meant the Pier. We had our Friday CPA Review class there every week. Surprisingly we did study the material but it was early in the day.
Everyone have a safe and fun Memorial Day weekend!

Suburbs are places where they cut down the trees and name the streets after them.

What great pictures. I love summertime pictures of birds, butterflies, etc. And it's so great having the orioles back. I could listen to them sing all day. The wrens are much fun to listen to also.
