Taking a road trip in the archives today, but with only two stops. First stop is the Mackinac Bridge, well it’s not exactly a stop, but back in 2005, Barbara Bremigan snapped a photo of one of the spans as they were getting ready to pass under it. Neat perspective!

By 2007, we made it to Lake Linden, near the campground and swimming area of the beach. You can see that the water was way down that year, with the dock quite high and dry. This dock is just a small one for campers to tie up their small boats too, so it wasn’t too big a deal, as the marina across the way had enough water for boats to go in and out there.

Still in Lake Linden, we visit the Nature trail in 2011. It’s a great place to start your day with a walk or unwind after work strolling around the trail. The views are beautiful from just about any vantage point along the way.

Spending so much time in Lake Linden today, I figured we might as well take a ride on the Railroad there at the Houghton County Historical Society Museum, Old Steam Train #3. There’s a track around the campus there that takes you around by the Marina and back. Fun for kids of all ages!

Back 10 years ago a lot of people were concerned
about the low water levels. We told them to wait a
while.......... it wasn't permanent. And then the
normal cycle came back around and now the water
levels are quite high in many places. No reason to
panic, one way or the other.

Just for a moment there...I was on that train. Does the driver work for Uber?

When they first got that train running, they did not have the full track to go around. There was a flatbed car, if you will, right behind the steam engine.....and I climbed up there and sat on a bench bolted down. When they blew the whistle....my yellow sweatshirt was covered in wet, black stuff, and, I loved it. I knew what was on my sweatshirt, just do not know what it is called......wet soot? ANYWAY, it was fun. They had a bucket for donations at that time. I took movies from that bench.
