Lots of activity in the archives today. We start out flying over Eagle Harbor in 2004, with Rick Anderson from Skypixs. He gives us a look at the town with all the snow melted by this time of year and no ice in the Harbor either.

Then Gus Linja takes us to the Traprock Bridge in Lake Linden, to check out what’s happening on the Traprock River in 2008. Another scene where the snow has mostly disappeared, with just a trace in the bushes on the riverbanks.

Our next scene was snapped in 2009, by Dennis Kemper. He’s standing at the top of the Hancock stairway, that leads up from the Bridge. This was originally a W.P.A project in the 1930’s and then in 1983 the student chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers at Michigan Tech, took on the project of restoring the stairway, that had deteriorated over the years. This was their Community Project and was funded through HUD. Nice to have preserved some history from earlier days.

The beach is back! Brita Happala and family took advantage of the beautiful weather we had this past Monday and headed to Eagle River Beach. They even made a bonfire, enjoying skipping rocks and just being out in the fresh air after the last barrage of snow we received.

Jason Asselin takes us on a mini video tour in a clip that he made this past Sunday. We take a wintry looking walk to the Wagner Falls near Munising and then to Marquette Harbor at the Ore Dock for a look at the ice still floating there, too. I was truly amazed that the walkway to the falls was still so snow covered, just six days ago.

The pictures are definitely some of my favorite
places. Love the flyover picture. If I had to
pick a place I'd love to live, it'd be either
Eagle River or Eagle Harbor. There'd be the long
winters to live through but what an amazing view
you'd have.

I like the Morel hunting in the 2007 picture. When will it start this year?

I never could figure out the purpose of the toll booth looking structure on Brockway, shown here in 2010. Maybe a place to warm up while raptor watching?

I enjoyed the 2006 pic of the Hungarian 'Mama' Falls. Used to swim there. Even when there was still ice around the edge of the water. Don't think I'd have the ambition to do that again. Being 78 wouldn't have anything to do with it, 'eh?

Top pic is my favorite, been by that beach a million times, but don't ever recall swimming there. Looking forward to our camping trip this summer at Sunset Bay on the N. shore.

Geezzz, I forgot to look at the video!!! Very nice, when I saw all the snow on the walkway, first thought was, oh man wipeout!! Always enjoy seeing the Harbor in Marquette, and the Dome in the distance. Thanks for the tour Jason!!
