Today’s archive shots actually look like it was spring in the Copper Country areas. Even though this first photo that was snapped by Jon Hopper was slushy and mushy on US41 and needed to be cleared by the snowplow, you could still tell it was Spring. Sure, the ground was white but if you look closely, there weren’t huge snowbanks on the side of the road.
In 2002, the photo Kelly Wenberg shared definitely looked like Spring, complete with a bit of flooding going on in the Askel/Arnheim area. Charlie also mentioned record heat in his notes that day.
Then again in 2012, you could see it was Spring in the photo from Sierra Bishop, as she was coming into Mason. Not a speck of snow to be seen on those roadsides.
April 2018 has proven to be drastically different from these previous years, just check out the photo that The Mackinac Bridge shared from this past Sunday. They were closed to high profile traffic for a number of hours, due to high winds, but passenger cars & vans and empty pickup trucks could cross at reduced speeds.
Today’s video was also made this past Sunday, by photographer, Todd Anderson, who works on Mackinac Island year round and was out there during our weekend storms, enabling him to capture the wave action on the Island breakwall as the Lake splashed and crashed around it. This storm will be one that makes the history from all across Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota.

Wow, the 4/15/18 pic of the Mighty Mac, if you look at it with a quick glance gives the illusion that it has collapsed almost!! Had many a white Knuckled ride across that bridge over the years.
But still a very calming, blood pressure lowering, feeling when you know you're in the Yoop, anytime of year when you when you talk to the folks in the toll booth, and the rest of the trip to the Keweenaw is very enjoyable, and for me.... Pure Michigan!! :=))

Cool stuff...I have a cd with waves that sounds like that...it helps me sleep. Lots of black ice on the roads this morning on the way to work and I now am beginning to think that this is a test to see who will break first. :-(

Yeah, the 15th made for quite a busy Lake Superior as well as Michigan and Huron, I'm sure. It was fun being in Duluth to witness her fury. But it was also dangerous. I fell on my rear trying to get a video. But it was well worth it. It's just too bad that the wind was blowing my camers all over and I got a lot of people's legs. I hope nobody got hurt!

We were watching the Bridge cams when it was partially closed on Sunday and it looked very intense. Then yesterday they had the normal "All clear, have a pleasant trip" message up and you could barely see the Bridge on most of the cams, and the bridge deck was covered in blowing snow. Not my opinion of 'all clear'!

Alert: New malware in Facebook today!
I'm not usually one to pass on rumors, but I just received this from a "usually reliable source". FWIW. (No surprise to me, I've never trusted "Farcebook"!)
