Another round of Copper Country Spring photos from the archive. Although, looking at today’s choices, you’d not be thinking it’s the same Spring folks south of the U.P. experience. Kelly Wenberg was at the Upper Entry Light, near McLain park when she snapped today’s first photo back in 2002. Icy or not, it’s a beautiful shot!

Then in 2007, Paul Roberts was on the Keweenaw shore, checking out the dirty ice that was still holding on to the beaches there. The wave action must have been stirring up the sand along Lake Superior’s shoreline, coating the ice with a sandy shine.

The third archive photo came to us from our own, Jon Hopper, in 2016. He captured the USCGC Alder as it made its way along the Portage Canal. The Alder was here on the Keweenaw Waterway to conduct icebreaking operations, entering from Keweenaw Bay, moving along through Portage Lake and ending at the Upper Entry and the open waters of Lake Superior. Recreational users of the waterway, were cautioned to plan their activities carefully and to use caution near the ice.

Today’s video is a short clip to show what us Yoopers are doing while we’re waiting for Spring to arrive. From the sounds of the forecast, it won’t be happening this coming weekend, either, as we have more snow in the making.

Here in northern Illinois it's in the 60's today. 70's for tomorrow. Spring is finally here...wait...what? 25 and snow this Sunday! Nevermind.

I echo D.A. Midwested from here in CT.....50s tomorrow, 60s Friday, well into 70's (the first time this year) then cold rain / high 30s Sunday. But fear not, we're almost there! Hang in!
