We continue with Spring through the years on the Pasty Cam...snowy & icy or open water. We begin today’s review with a photo that first appeared in 2004, taken by Jeff Massie. He was checking out the ice floes in the Marquette Harbor that year. Looks like some pancake ice and other chunky ice still filling up the Harbor there.

We move ahead a couple years, to 2007, with quite a snowy photo from Lois Haglund. She snapped this photo after a snowstorm that hit and the road crews were out keeping the roads cleared for people who needed to travel back then.

Then there was a reprieve from the snow and things were looking a bit more like Spring in 2016. Lindsay Butala was up in the Copper Harbor area doing some fishing. That’s the Copper Harbor Lighthouse across the way and check out the shoreline, there are a few patches of white hanging on the rocks over there, but otherwise the Harbor looks clear.

So, it varies year to year if we’re melted by now here UP North or not. This is a “NOT” year in the Keweenaw. We still have plenty of snow on the ground and the ice is hanging onto Lake Superior’s shores, as you can tell from the current photo from Jean Dessellier. She snapped this icy spray on Easter Sunday, when they were cruising around the Keweenaw.

Today’s video gives us a look at the waves rocking and rolling, splashing along the icy ledges. The ice is still on the shoreline, but whatever ice had built up further out was already gone, either melted or shifted somewhere else with the waves and wind.

Winter is hanging on, for sure. The video brings to mind: "...for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind."(James 1:6)

I just went to the NOAA Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory website to review their current reports of ice conditions. They have a photo archive which had one image that stunned me. They don't give a date or location other than to say it is somewhere in the Great Lakes.

It looks like there is a frozen lady hanging on there.

Lots of snow here also. And more coming on Sunday
by what I hear. Oh goody! But I sure do love
listening to those waves.

I didn't notice her at first, Richard J. (Dick_fl),
but i see her now that you mentioned it.
