The archive for this day was filled with light, all kinds of different light, each showcasing the beauty here UP North illuminated by the sun, the moon and the stars. We start out with the streaks of an overcast sunrise taken on Cliff Drive by Paul Roberts in 2002. Winter just didn’t want to give up that year.

Our next light comes from the moon as it rises over the Portage Lake Lift Bridge. This shot was snapped by Dave Dalquist, which appeared in 2011. I was at first skeptical as to whether it was an original shot or if it had been altered, because the moon in it is so huge. So I consulted with Dave back then and he explained he was just in the right place, at the right time and had his photography equipment with him to take this amazing photo.

That last of the light for today, comes from Mike Schneider, snapped in 2012. Mike took advantage of the clear nighttime skies we had been experiencing and captured the third photo with a myraid of stars, some constellations and even several planets shining brightly. Talk about lighting up the skies over the Marquette area...outstanding!

In looking for a video to compliment all the light on the Pasty Cam today, I came across a musical one by the Blue Water Ramblers, who sing about Keweenaw Light. Enjoy both the music and the light, let them soothe you and take you away for a few minutes of this day.

Kinda crazy. Winter just doesn't seem to want to
give up this year...This is the first picture I
ever took that got posted on the Pasty Cam. I
remember taking it. It's true what they say. A
picture is worth 1000 words. Good stuff! The
other pictures have their own story too. All are
incredible and bring back some good memories, if
not for me for someone.
