It’s St. Patrick’s Day here on the O’Pasty Cam, whether you’re Irish or not, it’s always a fun time to celebrate this holiday, with everything GREEN! There was a parade happening in Hancock, back in 2001 and the late Daryl Laitila was on hand that day to snap this parade memory. I’m not sure exactly what the young man’s sign means, but there sure was a lot of green happening in this shot!
Jumping ahead to 2008 and we have a branch of green in Aladino Mandoli’s photo of the bridge over Swedetown Creek on the Maasto Hiito Trails in Hancock. Sure looks like a peaceful place for skiing or snowshoeing.
Then in 2011, Shawn Malone took us to the shores of Lake Superior in Marquette, to view the Aurora Borealis turning the night sky a shade of green, just in time for St. Patrick’s Day.
Beth Jukuri had her young granddaughter out snowshoeing with her recently, along a tree lined trail, which fits perfectly in today’s green theme. What a great shot with that little person amongst the blue, green and white.
Our video feature takes us to the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in downtown Hancock, back in 2012. Note the lack of snow and people out in shorts and t-shirts. It was an unusual March 17th that year, with 70° and sunshine. We are nowhere near that right now, but in the 40’s for this weekend. At least that’s a step in the right direction!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!! There'll be a parade and a big celebration in the next town. I hope everybody stays safe because it seems as though there's always a bad accident somewhere. Be responsible, folks.
I love that 2nd picture. And the little boy out for a hike is a keeper also.

Congrats to the MTU Huskies who beat Jbuck's & my NMU Wildcats 2-0 tonight to win the WCHA CHAMPIONSHIP!! Both programs with new first year head coaches, should be an even better rivalry over the upcoming years!! Good luck to the Huskies who receive an automatic bid to the National Tournament, good luck and make the U.P. proud and bring home the National Championship!!

Way to go, Huskies! Now, if only the Wolverines didn't look so awful in the March Madness tournament. They should be made to shoot free throws for hours. Wow! How can they miss so many of them? Oh well, they had a good run. Go Spartans!!!!

I do believe that Michigan won.

Yes, was sorry to see our Cats lose; impressive night for the goalie for the Huskies. UP pride!
You'd think the green team could have brought home the win on St. Patty's Day!

I saw that. When I typed this, there were 3.7 seconds to go and another turnover. It was sloppily played and they didn't deserve to win, but I'm glad they did. That was quite the shot with under a second to go. Hats off to them. I still want State to win, though.

So sad that the Spartans lost. There goes my board, but more importantly, there goes their season. Izzo should have made them stop shooting 3's. Can't believe they didn't change strategies when that wasn't working.

Yep! Got 'em in foul trouble, but that wasn't enough.
