It’s a sky kind of day on the Pasty Cam today, with three beauties from the archives. Dan Urbanski brings us our first skyline scene, with a sun pillar from back in 2001. This phenomenon that occurs when sunlight reflects off of ice crystals in the atmosphere, was snapped near Ewen.

Charlie Hopper shared the next photo in 2002, with the Stars and Stripes blowing above a Calumet snowbank, with the fluted stack of the former Hecla Engine House in the background. It’s now part of the CLK Schools campus and I’m curious as to whether it’s just a reminder of the mining days gone by or if it’s being used for something still today. Anyone?

Our third sky shot is one that appeared in 2012, from Shawn Malone over at Lake Superior Photo in Marquette. What a beautiful starry night she captured, with just a hint of an Aurora Borealis beginning over Lake Superior.

The video feature for the day is a time-lapse view of the changing sky over the Crystal Falls area. Sit back and enjoy the view!

All of these pictures are fabulous today. But if I would have to pick, the 3rd would be my favorite!

It is hard to pick a favorite from today's pictures. They all make winter look as good as winter can possibly look.

When I first clicked on to Pasty and saw the sunset, I thought wow, March is over already!! :)
