With over 250” of snow in the Copper Country this year, we have some dandy piles of snow around the area. Looking back in the archives on this day, you can see we had some big snowbanks and hills throughout the years, too. We start with a look down Calumet Avenue (US41/M26) in Calumet from 2004, snapped by David Antikianen. Those are some good size snowbanks along the highway. Piles that high, make it a bit difficult to back out of your driveway on a busy highway like that.
In 2010, Cindy Freeman was visiting Copper Harbor, where she captured some good snow drifts surrounding the School there. It looks like there was snow falling while she was taking this shot.
We head over to Mount Bohemia with Melanie Hakala Rossi in 2012 to check out a good snow cover on the hill for the skiers that year. Looks like the day she was there was sunny, with beautiful blue skies above the ski hill.
Speaking of snow piles and hills, this past week the warmer temps and sunshine heated the roof of our metal building enough for it to dump the piled up snow. We had already shoveled it off once before this winter, but there was another 2 feet of snow up there again. That’s my hubby standing on the pile that came down, making it easy for him to touch the roof!
We weren’t there to catch the snow coming down in person, but I was able to find a “snow avalanche” video for us to watch, which gives you a good idea of what it looks like flying off... and then flying back on again!

Must have completed today's orders/shipments, we're at 65 and (not) counting! What's the prize for ordering the 1,000,000th pasty? 😋

Does the purchaser of the 1,000,000 pasty win a prize like a new Polaris ATV or Snow machine, snow blower, or maybe a Kubota tractor???

When I'm at my mom's in the winter and the snow slides off the roof like that, it darn near gives me a heart attack it's so loud. It sure must take some getting used to.

The millionth pastie should be bronzed and then Charlie could get his ear pierced and hang it. Very chic!

But seriously folks, the millionth pasty should be bronzed and put on display at The Hut Inn.
